Mapping Infinity is a mixtape about the massive expanse of space, the unchangeable past, and the comfort of nothing.

For a while I wasn't sure how to release these songs, as they were completely different than the vast majority of my other work. I thought about releasing them as a proper album many times but, just wasn't really sure if people would take to it. More time passed and it kinda just became another one of my many abandoned projects. However, as I held onto these tracks, they began to take a special meaning that made me realize I still should share them.

When I was making them, I had this really intense thought about what it would be like to be a passenger aboard one of the voyager spacecrafts. To leave Earth forever, and probably to never return to any place you've seen ever again. This idea had such a strange melancholy to me that it sort of ended up instilling itself in all of the songs. The release of this was pretty last minute, I decided the day before that I was going to release all these songs here. But I knew wasn't helping anyone by letting them sit privated on my bandcamp and never be heard. They aren't perfect, but I hope they help you feel something like they did for me.

it seems less repetitive than a lot in this genre. the music has variation. the project's structure and use of field recordings also seem high-effort. it remains one of the best malls on mars even today. orsonwiles
